Afternoon thunder-
. storms developed but appeared to have bases above
the mixed layer and never built to large propor-
tions~ During the early evening, a strong line of
thunderstorms developed in eastern Colorado. The
line was approximately 500 km long and appeared to
have its roots in the low-level flow, The syst~m
moved across Goodland at approximately 2300 MDT
(0500 GMT). Figures 5 and 6 are the streamline
and isentropic analyses for this day,

-

May 24, 1978 (MESOCU Study)

Apparent weak meso-high pushing south
over the operating area, Thunderstorm formed
south of Goodland but died out as the meso system
moved under it. New thunderstorms formed from
. ~uthwest to northwest and gradually moved east-
ward after 1600 MDT (2200 GMT). Figures 7 and 8
are the streamline and isentropic analyses for
May 24th.
