(4) To perform calibration-type seeding at both the base and in the
-40C to -lOoC region of growing cumuli, and evaluate the practicability
of base and on-top seeding;
(5) To gain limited and preliminary experience in the seeding of
turrets associated with convective complexes, and the seeding of numerous
turrets along a line of several convective complexes;
(6) To evaluate objective-type, operational forecast procedures for
the Texas HIPLEX program, and to collect data required in the development
of a decision tree and discriminant function approaches to forecasting; and
(7) To establish the feasibility of using real time satellit:e data
to locate regions of initial convec1:ive activity, and for determining the
movement of lines of convective activity into the target area.
Plans for accomplishing these objectives are included in subsequent
sections of this operations plan.
