.

1. INTRODUCTION
This operations plan describes the Texas HIPLEX field progrmn for
the summer of 1978, and the activities of each organization participating
in the program. This plan contains only the operations aspects of the
field program which includes the processing and documentation of most
data collected. A separate plan will be prepared later for the analysis
of the data.
Participants in the 1978 Texas HIPLEX field program include:
Bureau of Reclamation (BuRec)
Texas Department of Water Resources (TDWR)
Colorado River Municipal IlJater District (CRMWD)
Texas A&M University (T~J)
Texas Tech University (TTU)
Meteorology Research, Incorporated (MRI)
Colorado International Corporation (CIC)
The participation of each of these organizations in the 1978 Texas HIPLEX
field program is described in this operations plan.
The 1978 Texas HIPLEX field program will begin May 15 and end August
15, 1978. Cloud seeding will be accomplished during June and July with
emphasis placed on June when the Lear Jet, provided by Colorado Inter-
national Corporation (CIC), will be available for on-top seeding. During
July a Navajo airplane provided by CRMWD will be used for on-top <:loud
seeding. In addition to the jet seeder, several important changes have
been made in the field program of 1978 compared to the previous b10 summers.
These include an extension of the network of special surface stations, the
use of a Navajo aircraft for on-top cloud seeding, and documentation of
data collected.
Nothing in this operations work plan supercedes the existing
contractural agreements between the Bureau of Reclamation and Meteorology
Research, Incorporated (MRI), and Colorado International Corporation (CIC)
for their aircraft operations.

II

<i

II

;;;
