I. Case Termination

Measurements will be terminated on each experimental unit 40 minutes
after treatment or when the cloud dissipates, whichever occurs
first.

J. Final Test Statistics

The response variables TIPA, TIPR, AER, RERA, and RERC will be used
to generate the final test statistics that are directly relevant to
the null hypotheses. For reasons previously noted, testing of the
null hypotheses for primary response variables determined from the
SWR-75 radar (TIPR, RERA, and RERC) will be limited to those experi-
mental units for which tlhe center of the lowest tilt radar beam was
at or below (warmer than) the +10 oC level.

1. The ~roportion of seeded and un seeded experimental units that
precipitate will be based on the time to initial precipitation.
If that time is less than 40 minutes, the cloud will be considered
as having precipitated:

a. PCPA(S) and PCPA(NS) will be based on TIPA, the aircraft-
determined value of the time to initial precipitation.

b. PCPR(S) and PCPR(NS) will be based on the radar-determined
TI PR .

2. The average volume! of rain per seeded and un seeded experimental
unit will be determined independently from the aircraft- and the
radar-estimated rainfall values:
a. AVRA(S) and AVRA(NS) will be based on AER.
b. AVRC(S) and AVRC(NS) will be based on RERC.
c. AVRR(S) and AVRR(NS) wi 11 be based on RERA.
K. Secondary Respons~ V~riables

The following eight additional variables (secondary response variables)
are identified as likely to distinguish seeded from un seeded clouds
but are not considered essential in validating the physical hypotheses:

23
