Shoshone Power Plant
It was assumed that the Shoshone water right or 1,250 crs
would be the primary controlling water call for the Colorado
River and its tributaries upstream from Glenwood Springs.

6. Cameo Gaqinq Station
The Cameo gaging station on the Colorado River is located
upstream of the diversion point of the Grand Valley Reclamation
Project. The amount or \~ater required for this project was
determined by Mr. J. R. Riter, previously an hydrologist for the
Bureau of Reclamation. These values are contained in Senate
Document 80 and were assumed to represent the Cameo requirement.
During the winter, water is required at Cameo to satisfy the
Grand Valley Power Plant near Palisade. It was also assumed
that the flow de~and at Cameo would be the secondary controlling
1~~'Jater callll for the Colorado River and its tributaries.
In Senate Document 80 it is stated that the present (1937)
irrigated area along the Colorado River between Palisade and the
Colorado-Utah state line is 70,600 acres, and that the additional
arable area in this region, not now irrigated, is as follows:

Ac res

Under constructed canals

Pumping unit of Grand Valley project, ror
which canal capacity has been provided

Lands on Mack Flat, no present provision
ror water service

13,800

10,000

TOTAL

9.000
32,800

Maximum irrigation demand at the head of the Grand Valley for
the present irrigated area and for the additional area of 23,800
acres ror which provision has been made in the constructed canals,
is estimated as 1,700 cfs. With maximum irrigation demands there
is a full water supply for the Orchard Mesa pumping plant and for
the Grand Valley pO\l'Jer plant.
