.

.

COST ESTIMATES

.

Sheeohorn Dam and Reservoir
Sheephorn Dam would impound 210,000 acre-feet with a dam height
of 310 feet. Conceptual engineering sketches were prepared by Stone
and Webster Engineering Corporation to enable the quantities of rock
excavation, form work concrete and inspection and inspection galleries
to be calculated for a concrete gravity dam. The sketches also showed
locations for the spillway, the low level outlet and the variable
level gated structure on the upstream face.
A dam at the proposed site would necessitate relocation of about
13 miles of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. The estimated
1980 cost of Sheephorn Dam and relocation of the 13 miles of railroad
follows:

TABLE 4
SHEEPHORN DAM CONSTRUCTION COSTS
(Costs expressed in thousands of dollars)

Railroad Relocation
Four Tunnels - 7,800 feet
Track Relocation (13 miles)

$ 22,700
21,700

Sheephorn Dam (2l0,000 Acre-Feet)
Variable Level Intake Structure
Dam and Equipment

Subtotal

3,300
53,600

$101,300

Total

$ 11,100
22,300

$134,700

$140,000

Indirect Construction Costs
Contingencies

Round to

a

-15-
