<br />-16- <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />5,0 MAINTENANCE PLANS AND CRITERIA <br /> <br />5.1 Levees <br /> <br />The Town of Wiggins shall provide at all times such <br />maintenance as may be required to insure serviceability of <br />the structures in time of flood. Measures shall be taken to <br />exterminate burrowing animals; to provide for the removal of <br />wild growth, such as trees and brush, and drift deposits; <br />and to repair damages caused by erosion or other forces. <br />Periodic inspections shall be made by the Flood <br />Superintendent to insure that above maintenance measures are <br />being carried out and further to be certain that: <br /> <br />a. No unusual settlement, sloughing or material loss of <br />grade or levee section has taken place. <br /> <br />b. No caving has occurred on either the land side or the <br />channel side of the levees which might affect the <br />stability of the levee section. <br /> <br />c. No seepage, saturated areas. or sand boils are <br />occurring. <br /> <br />d. No revetment work or riprap has been displaced, washed <br />out, or removed. <br /> <br />e. No trees or bushes are growing on or adjacent to the <br />levees. <br /> <br />f. Access roads to and on the levees are being properly <br />maintained. <br /> <br />g. Fences and gates are in good condition (if applicable). <br />
