(g) The Association is pursu~~ the purchase

of, surplus water in Lake Meredith in Reach 3.

(h) The Association may participate in a pro-

gram to meet Colorado's obligations to Kansas under the

Arkansas River Compact by pumping from wells near the

state line. To the extent that it does so, the Associa-

tion seeks credit for a proportionalanount of the benefit

so provided to Colorado water users.

Commitments for particular sources have been deferred

until a preliminary plan for augmentation is approved and the

suitability of particular sources for augmentation use has been

determined.

14. In the event the amount of replacement water corn-

mitted to the Division Engineer under paragraph 11 hereof should

prove inadequate because of extremely dry conditions, the Asso-

ciation proposes that the Division Engineer notify the Associa-

tion when he determines that only three weeks of replacement

supply remains. The Association then must provide additional

replacement water, calculated as set forth in this Application,

or terminate pumping at the end of the three-week period, except

to the extent that such pumping is protected by replacement

water, as described herein, and such pumping as may be permitted

for wells not protected by a plan for augmentation.

15. This plan for augmentation is proposed for the

year of 1974, and the Association will ask the Water Court to

retain jurisdiction while it refines its data and acquires

rights to water, in order to permit approval of a permanent

plan for augmentation.
