.

.

hygrothermographs will be placed at the FiE~ld Headquarters, NCAR C-band

radar, and Merchant Valley remote sensing sites to record temperature

and relative humidity. A microbarograph will be placed at the Field

Headquarters site.

c. Rawinsonde data. Rawinsonde data will be collected at

Adamsville by Charlie and Millie Von Ritchie (UDWR contract personnel)

using an RD-65 unit. Expendables will be provided by UDWR. Rawinsondes

will be launched as needed for forecast and research purposes upon

request of NAWC at a frequency determin'ed by the Alert Level. During

STO RM research periods, rawinsondes wil I be launched at 3 hr intervals

at 0000, 0300, 0600 GMT, etc., for the duration of the STORM. Every

attempt will be made to launch a sonde prior to the start of a STORM

specifically during Alert Level 2. Rawinsonde data will be reduced by

NAWC in Beaver to the following variables: temperature, dew point,

pressure, altitude and wind velocity. These variables will. be available

at all significant levels up to the tropopause or 300 mb, whichever is

lower. Data reduction in real-time will 'be attempted. A skew T-Iog p

plot of the data will also be produced in Beaver, as needed.

d. Precipitation data. Precipitation data will be collected at

eight sites with Belfort recording gages. Although the gage charts will

accommodate seven days of data they will be changed after every STORM.

The gages will be checked for proper oper'ation then and any adjustments

to the gages will be made so they will operate properly during the next

STORM. North American Weather Consultants personnel will be responsible

for attending to the gages.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

-25-
