6. Analysis program

This Section describes in more or less general terms the analyses

that will be undertaken in order to reach the scientific objectives of

the 1985 Utah I NOAA research p,"ogram. Although there may be some changes

in this general plan during the course of the program they will largely

be only changes in emphasis reflecting the quality and quantity of the

different kinds of data collected.

The overall thrust of the analysis

will not change.

Important further development of this general analysis plan will be

required at the beginning of the 1985 field program. Specifics of the

analyses are needed in order that a check list of essential observations

critical to each experiment may be generated. This will help focus the

field investigations and ensur"e that important data are collected. It

is anticipated that as the field program proceeds there may be further

adjustments in the analysis program in response to the data actually

obtained. Although the analysis p,.ogram is thus evolutionary it yet is

sufficiently well-defined to jus1tify the present document.

A Lead Scientist has been identified for each experiment to coor-

dinate the analysis following the field program.

The Lead Scientist

will also have the responsibiHty of providing at the beginning of the

field program additional specific information about the analyses

described in general terms in the present plan. This information will

help in making any adjustmfmts to the 1985 Field Operations Plan

required for appropriate data collection. for every experiment.

The analyses ultimately made of the data will depend on the activi-

ties of the field program and the amounts of different data collected.

A report on these items will be provided by the Field Director by the
