CDIVI

Application for the Water Conservation Grant Program,
Town of Erie

1.1 Water Use and Demands

All historical and future water demands presented in this section originate from Erie's
draft Water Supply Master Plan (Black and Veatch). Figure 2 shows Erie's total water
use from 2001 to 2005. These demands have trended upward over the past several
years (except 2003)/ reflecting Erie's increasing service area population. However, per
capita demands, shown in Figure 3/ indicate a generally downward trend. The
particularly low total 2003 demands and per capita demands in 2003 and 2004 are
likely attributable to the following:

. Community response to regional drought awareness campaigns

. Community response to Erie's efforts to encourage conservation via mandatory
water restrictions

. Relatively high precipitation in 2004/ reducing the need for outdoor irrigation

3,000

_ 2,500
>-
LL
<(
~ 2,000
en
::J

So.... 1,500
Q.)
~
co 1,000
::::::s
c
c
<( 500

o

.-----
I----
I----
-
-
~ I----
~ I----
~ I----

2001

2002

2003

2004

2005

Figure 2 Historical Water Use

\\densvrOl \projects\9228 - erie\conservation plan\grant application\water conservation grant progralTI application final.doc

3
