CDIVI

Town of Erie Water Conservation Plan Grant Amendment
March 2007

2.0 Proj ected Demands

The projected demands provided in the original grant application were developed for
treated water master planning purposes and do not take into account historical per
capita water usage. After further evaluating potential conservation water savings, it
was determined that the original projected demands do not provide a firm baseline
for comparison of future demands with conservation water savings.

Projected demands have been modified to reflect the pre 2002 drought per capita
water usage, shown in Figure 3. A per capita water usage of 216 gpcd (the per capita
water usage for 2002) was used to develop the projected demands. This per capita
usage was multiplied by the anticipated annual population estimates provided in the
original grant application. These projected demands will serve as the baseline when
evaluating future conservation water savings.

9,000
8,000
52 7,000
LL
~
en 6,000
"'0
C
co
E 5,000
Q)
0
"'0
Q) 4,000
U
Q)
.0'
So.... 3,000
0...
co
(5 2,000
I-
1,000
0

I'- 00
o 0
o 0
N N

""'" LO

o 0
N N

'"" N ('f)
N N N
o 0 0
N N N

""'" LO
N N
o 0
N N

(J) 0 '""
o '""
o 0 0
N N N

N ('f)
o 0
N N

CD I'- 00
o 0 0
N N N

(J) 0
N
o 0
N N

Figure 3: Modified Projected Demands

3.0 Estimated Water Savings Goals
The following goals will be an important component of the Water Conservation Plan.

1. Target an annual per capita water usage of 170 gpcd by 2014. The per capita
water usage will be calculated using the population projections provided in the
grant application and annual metered water usage (for potable and raw water
usage). This annual per capita water usage provides a water savings of 1/110 AFY
(21 percent) when compared to the projected demands provided in Figure 3.

3

\\DENSVR01\PROJECTS\9228 - ERIE\CONSERVATION PLAN\GRANT APPLlCATION\WATER CONSERVATION AMENDMENT FINALDOC
