CDIVI

Town of Erie Water Conservation Plan Grant Amendment
March 2007

Application for the Water Conservation
Grant Program, Town of Erie
Amendment No.1

Applicant:

T own of Erie
645 Holbrook Street
Erie, Colorado 80516

Contact:

Gary Behlen, Public Works Director
303-926-2871
gbehlen@ci.erie.co.us

Erie is planning to develop a Water Conservation Plan (Plan). The Plan will meet the
requirements for Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) Water Conservation
Grants, and will reference the recommendations outlined in the CWCB's Water
Conservation Plan Development Guidance Document.

This document is an amendment to an application for grant monies offered by the
CWCB for the development of a Water Conservation Plan. The following sections
address specific questions and data requirements requested by CWCB to fulfill the
grant requirements. The data requirements were discussed over the phone with
Tammie Petrone on February 13/ 2006. In addition to these data, projected demands
were modified to provide a better baseline for evaluating conservation water savings.

This document is organized into the following sections:

.

Historical Demands
Projected Demands
Estimated Water Savings Goals
Schedule

.

.

.

1.0 Historical Demands

This section provides a brief summary of the historical demands presented in the
original grant application. These data was used to develop new projected demands
presented in Section 2.0.

Figure 1 shows Erie's total water use from 2001 to 2005. Historical water use
generally increased from 2001 to 2005/ corresponding to a growing population.
However, water use decreased in 2003/ following the 2002 drought. Since the public
campaign during the drought of 2002 to conserve water and Erie' s mandatory water
restrictions in 2002/ customers have been more efficient with their water use.
However, it is important to note that this "drought shadow" demand reduction may
not be permanent as customers return to a certain level of pre-drought water use.

\\DENSVR01\PROJECTS\9228 - ERIE\CONSERVATION PLAN\GRANT APPLlCATION\WATER CONSERVATION AMENDMENT FINALDOC
