<br />Application for Water Efficiency Grant Program: Colorado Watershed Network <br /> <br />conservation plans for local utilities. Partnering with Colorado Project WET <br />allows CWCB to fulfill major programmatic goals outlin,ed in the 2004 strategic <br />plan, specifically supporting outreach and educatioll to promote a better <br />understanding of water issues and fostering informed decisions related to water <br />conservation, development, protection and management. <br />III. Local P'artners: <br />A. Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW): The Colorado Division of Wildlife <br />coordinates Project WILD in Colorado which is a partner of Project WET. This <br />program will assist in planning, coordinating, and funding of annual three-day <br />new facilitator training, as well as annllal three-day facilitator leadership <br />conference. The CDOW's six regio'nal education coordinators :provide local <br />support for facilitators, as well as assistance with logistics and materials for <br />Project WET workshops in their region. CDOW's Project WILD program also <br />produces the triannual newsletter, Colorado Connections. <br />B. Colo,rado State Forest Service (CSFS): The CSFS coordinates Project Learning <br />Tree (PLT) in Colorado. :PLT is a partner of Project WE.T and will maintain <br />regular communication with coordinators of other Sister Projects (.ProjectsWET, <br />WILD, Learning Tree and Food, Land & People). The program 'will assist in <br />plannin.g, coordinating, and funding annual three-day new facilitator trainings and <br />three-day facilitator leadership conferences. <br />C. Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA): CFA coordinates Project Food, <br />Land & People (FLP) in Colorado and is the publisher of the Colorado Reader <br />series for children. FLP is a partner of Project WET and will maintain regular <br />commurncationwith coordin.ators of other Sister Projects. The program will assist <br />in planning the facilitator leadership co'nferences and will coordinate with the <br />Project WET Coordinator to highlight water topics in the Colorado Reader series. <br />D. University of Nortbern Colorado (UNC): Supports Project WET by <br />incorporating Project WET curriculum and materials into pre-service teacher <br />studies and providing coordination of pre-service teacher workshops. Will assist <br />in planning and coordinating facilitator leadership conferen,ce,new facilitator <br />training and recruiting other institutions of higher learning and faculty into the <br />partnership as facilitators. <br /> <br />3,. Major Goal and Target Audience <br /> <br />I. Goal of tbe Project: The stated goal of Project WET is "to facilitate and promote the <br />awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources." This project <br />will help educate Colorado's youth and educators about water and the importance of this <br />resource in. the every day life of all water users. Utilizing highly q,ualified volunteer <br />facilitators to deliver Project WET workshops throughout the state; ensures that teachers <br />and youth in communities around Colorado wi]] have access to locally relevant water <br />education materials to use in and outside of the classroom. By training hundreds of <br />educators annually to use Project WET materials and curriculum, thousands of youth <br />throughout Colorado will understand that water is a limited resource and will be able to <br />make informed decisions for the future. <br /> <br />Page 4 <br />
