In performing our mission, we fully embrace the importance of water
conservation, water use efficiency and wise water use in our community's efforts to manage our most precious water
resources now and into the future. Water conservation is one of the three main methods we will meet the future demands
of our customers. The other two are recycled water and new storage projects.
Denver Water applauds the CWCB for its water conservation and water efficiency grant programs, and we will continue to
show our support for these important state programs into the future. In addition, we recognize; the importance of
communications and technical assistance in helping to promote and support more meanino, ful water conservation
statewide, which is the underlying goal of the CWCB grant programs. 'fhe needs for this kind of help throughout
Colorado were made abundantly clear the last two summers in the conservation workshops cosponsored by the CWWC
and CWCB.
i'o help move water conservation to the next level, Denver Water fully supports the Colorado WaterWisc Council's
rroposal to hire an Executive Director. Ilaving national conservation programs is wonderful and beneficial to those who
can participate, but those arc not enough. Rarely do national or international groups help those at the local level. Colorado
needs a statewide program focused solely on the needs of small and large water conservation projects. "fhe Colorado
!~Ja±erl?Vise Council has conservation and efficiency as its main focus for commut?hies alld water r?rwidcrs in Colorado.
"Phis makes it unique among non-profits and governmental agencies.
Therefore, we strongly encourage the CWCB and the Office of Water Conservation and Drought Planning to recobnize the
merits of the CWWC grant application and award the requested Hinds to this vitally important program. The result of
having a central coordinating person-- an Executive Director-- for statewide outreach to those responsible for efficiency
programs will benefit water managers, basin roundtable members and water conservation experts statewide.
l Bank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
,~~ ,,
/ ~ ~~~'(~ i j~
~~IG~2~~
i-;lizab~th V.
