Application for Water Efficiency Grant Program: Colorado Watershed Network conservation plans for local utilities. Partnering with Colorado Project WET allows CWCB to fulfill major programmatic goals outlined in the 2004 strategic plan specifically supporting outreach and education to promote a better understanding of water issues and fostering informed decisions related to water conservation, development, protection and management. III. Local Partners: A. Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW): The Colorado Division of Wildlife coordinates Project WILD in Colorado which is a partner of Project WET. This program will assist in planning, coordinating, and funding of annual three-day new facilitator training, as well as annual three-day facilitator leadership conference. The CDOW's six regional education coordinators provide local support for facilitators, as well as assistance with logistics and materials for Project WET workshops in their region. CDOW's Project WILD program also produces the triannual newsletter, Colorado Connections. B. Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS): The CSFS coordinates Project Learning Tree (PLT) in Colorado. PLT is a partner of Project WET and will maintain regular communication with coordinators of other Sister Projects (Projects WET, WILD, Learning Tree and Food, Land & People). The program will assist in planning, coordinating, and funding annual three-day new facilitator trainings and three-day facilitator leadership conferences. C. Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA): CFA coordinates Project Food, Land & People (FLP) in Colorado and is the publisher of the Colorado Reader series for children. FLP is a partner of Project WET and will maintain regular communication with coordinators of other Sister Projects. The program will assist in planning the facilitator leadership conferences and will coordinate with the Project WET Coordinator to highlight water topics in the Colorado Reader series. D. University of Northern Colorado (UNC): Supports Project WET by incorporating Project WET curriculum and materials into pre-service teacher studies and providing coordination ofpre-service teacher workshops. Will assist in planning and coordinating facilitator leadership conference, new facilitator training and recruiting other institutions of higher learning and faculty into the partnership as facilitators. 3. Major Goal and Target Audience I. Goal of the Project: The stated goal of Project WET is "to facilitate and promote the awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources." This project will help educate Colorado's youth and educators about water and the importance of this resource in the every day life of all water users. Utilizing highly qualified volunteer facilitators to deliver Project WET workshops throughout the state, ensures that teachers and youth in communities around Colorado will have access to locally relevant water education materials to use in and outside of the classroom. By training hundreds of educators annually to use Project WET materials and curriculum, thousands of youth throughout Colorado will understand that water is a limited resource and will be able to make informed decisions for the future.
