The city of Boulder's Watershed Outreach Program and
the Kcep it Clean Partnership (Boulder, Boulder County, Erie, Longmont, Louisville, Superior) Education
Program have relied on resources provided by Project WET staff and in the Project Wli'I' activity book
for the past four years specifically for our school based education programs and annual teacher workshop.
We plan to continue to use the Project WET resources again this year and in years to come.
Each year City of Boulder and Keep it Clean Partnership education staff provide an average of 150 K-12
programs to 5,000 Boulder Valley School District and Saint Vrain Valley School District students. Our
professional team of four educators (three are Project WE1' facilitators) utilises Project WET activities as
the basis for many of these school based education programs. Through these progra>'ns we often refer
teachers to Project WET resources including the printed materials and contact information for the state
coordinator so they can find out about expanded Project WET educational programs. 11fter participating
in the "Sum of the farts" activity in her fourth grade classroom, one Boulder teacher shared, "'T'his
program was f~mtastic. Every student was engaged and they were able to make several connections to our
current water unit."
'The successful annual "Ciet to Know Your H20" teacher workshop is coordinated in partnership with
Project WET. F.ach year an average of 20 teachers attend this workshop, many of whom are drawn by the
Project WET training offer. These teachers reach an average of 1,000 students who in turn share
information with their families. Teachers report that they arc pleased with the high quality, informative
and standards-based activities that Project WET provides. One 2007 participant shares "I learned so much
and came away with excellent materials."
Finally, the State Project WET coordinator and Project WET materials are wonderful resources not only
for educators, but also for municipal ctnployees responsible for impletnenting stormwater education
programs in their communities.
Thank you for your careful consideration of the Colorado Watershed Network's proposal for Project
WET funding from the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
Sincer ly,
~~`~ / _ //
Cuzry Rosato Y~
Watershed Outreach Coordinator
