<br />o Rio Grande River Basin - the snowpack is 169% of average and 186% of last year and you have <br />to go back to 1979 for a year this 2008 National Hydrologic Assessment <br />good. Snowpack exceeded the <br />maximum in late January and we <br />have a really good chance of being <br />well above the maximum of record. <br />An impressive December was four <br />times normal but March has tapered <br />off. Reservoir storage is 101 % of <br />average and 137% of last year and <br />29% of total capacity. This basin has <br />been struggling to get back from the <br />drought. The Rio Grande at Del <br />Norte is forecasted for 167% of <br />average, South Fork Rio Grande at <br />South Fork 166%, and Alamosa Creek above Terrace Reservoir 164%. <br />o Arkansas River Basin - Snowpack is 160% of average and 150% of last year. Reservoir storage <br />is 94% of average, 117% oflast year, and 32% of capacity. Don West explained that the NRCS calculates the Statewide Water Supply Index in the winter and <br />the DWR does it in the summer. The DWR report can is at http://water.state.co.us/pubs/swsi.asp . <br />The range is +4 abudnant water supply to -4 severe drought. The highest is the Gunnison Basin at 3.9 <br />and the lowest is the South Platte at +0.2. <br />o South Platte Basin - Plains reservoirs are 77% of capacity, flow at kersey gage 751 cfs. <br />Comments form division 1, by end of February eliminated restrictions due to icing. 15-20 <br />days ahead of last year, with positive storage conditions, good water year with adequate <br />water. <br />o Arkansas Basin - Arkansas basin, SWSI is positive 3.3 flow average is 550 cfs, <br />o Rio Grande Basin - Rio Grande is plus 3.7, 109% of normal, comments very good chance of <br />all filling, Platoro will be for flood these string, sand bags ordered, runoff levels might easily <br />o Gunnison Basin - Gunnison is 3.9 is highest in the state, higher than wet year average of <br />1984, supply will be excellent, the USBR has scheduled maintenance activities and flows will <br />be reduced significantly <br />o Colorado basin - Colorado basin, has 2.9 value, 1057 cfs at dotsero, cumulative flow is at <br />1984 flow, storage at three reservoirs are 123% of normal, USBR basin wide run off of 120, <br />49 feet lake Powell rise, in <br />o Yampa/White Basin - comments from division engineer, latest runoff forecast and 120% <br />o San Juan/Dolores Basin - San Juan Dolores basin on page 9 the SWSI is 3.9 flows is 230cfs, <br />and cumulative flow since October is above long-term average. Pine River been releasing <br />form, compact call since river flows <br />. Jack Byers, Deputy State Engineer at the DWR, stated that they and CWCB work together on a high flow <br />alert system. There is icing conditions still at stream gages. With respect to dam safety the DWR has <br />already flown over some reservoirs in the state.
