RIDING EVENT SUMMITVll..LE ANDESITE ROCK QUARRY a.k.a. PARK CREEK PIT/QUARRY The Divide District has received a special-use application from Endurocross, Inc of Montrose, Colorado. They would like to have a one day special motor- cycle enduro event on motorized trails north of Del Norte. The course needs to be approximately 60 miles in length and may incorporate portions of the follow- ing trails: #791 Mesa, #794 Cathedral, #795 Groundhog, #787 Little LaGarita, #792 Embargo, #793 Main LaGarita, #796 Perry Creek. DIVIDE RANGER DISTRICT Wolf Creek Ski Area proposes to replace an old building, on the CDOT facility across US 160 from the ski area, with a larger building for housing large equipment (e.g., snowblowers, snow- plows) and a new power generator for the ski area. This proposal would negate the need to place a heavy equipment storage building above the Alberta Parking Lot which was formerly proposed in the spring of '97. Building would replace operator shack of existing Nova lift, be ap- proximately 60 feet by 30 feet, two floors, and include restrooms, small kitchen, other facilities for Wolf Pup (4-8 year old children) program. Building would provide ready access to "Magic Carpet" lift for Wolf Pups. (719) 657-3321 DIVIDERANGERDISTRICT This proposal is from the Riders of Del Norte, a mountain bike club that wishes to have a mountain bike event on two different locations of the Divide District. One location is on Shady Creek Trail by Del Norte Peak and the other is Deadmans Gulch west of Monte Vista on the Lime Creek Road. This event has been allowed under a special use permit for many years and is on-going. ART MARCILLA, (719) 657-3321, DIVIDE RANGER DISTRICT The Pikes Peak. Range Riders of Colorado Springs have applies for a special event permit on public lands north and south of Del Norte, Colorado. Approximatley 150 horse riders are expected to participate in this event. Riders plan to use a cominbination of existing roads and trails in the vicintiy of English Valley, Natural Arch, Eagle Rock, San Francisco Creek and Pinos Creek.
