The scope of work will include using an existing engineered plan, which was paid for <br />through a 319 grant to: <br />. Repair and improve the existing river diversion pipe and gate valve. These components will be <br />used to redirect the flows away from the pond for sediment removal purposes. <br />. Remove existing unstable soils and sediment deposition. <br />. Stabilize the bottom of the pond with a fabric layer covered by 6" of gravel and topped with 18" <br />cobble. <br />. Construct contours out of 18" cobble that will re-channel the river to slow the stream velocity <br />and improve the deposition of sediment. <br />. Construct an access road with a truck turn around and a grade no greater than 7%. <br />. Work with partnering agencies to conduct post project biological testing for sediment and stream <br />health to track the success of the project. <br /> <br />The engineers estimated total cost for the project is $247,900.00. $60,000 will be donated by the COOT as a <br />matching grant We are requesting $60,000 from the Colorado River Basin Roundtable and $127,900 form the State <br />funds. The East Grand Water Quality Board's proposed schedule is to fmalize the design documents by January of <br />08, have a MOU signed by all of the partnering agencies by February of 08, procure funding by March of 08, <br />release the RFP. by April of 08, secure a contract for construction by June of 08 and complete construction by the <br />end of October in 08. <br /> <br />The East Grand Water Quality Board has four members who will oversee this project. The Town of Winter <br />Park, who is a participating agency, is also a member of the EGWQB and will allow their Town Engineer <br />to participate in the construction supervision. The Grand County Water and San. Dist. #1 will allow their <br />manager, Bruce Hutchins to help oversee the construction of the sediment basin. Bruce is presently the <br />oversight for a $600K pond project that his District is constructing. Mike Wageck, the manager of the <br />Winter Park Water and San. Dist. has been the oversight for several projects larger than this one and will <br />be helping with the oversight of this project. The fourth member of the EGWQB that will be helping with <br />the implementation of this project is Kirk Klancke, the manager of the Winter Park Ranch Water and San. <br />Dist.. Kirk has also supervised larger projects than this. <br /> <br />8 <br />
