Provide a brief description of your organiz ation belo w: see “Description of Applicant” in Part 2 of <br />Criteria and Guidance for required information. <br />GARNA is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization headqua rtered in Salida, Colorado which prom otes <br />awareness of and appreciation for the natural, cultura l and historical resources of the Greater Arkansas <br />River Valley through educational activities, volunteer projects, com m unity involvem e nt and <br />partnerships with public natural resource m a nagem e nt agencies. <br />In partial fulfillm ent of its m i ssion, GARNA has established cooperative agreem ents with land and <br />resource m a nagem e nt agencies and m unicipalities throughout the Greater Arkansas River Valley. <br />These include the U.S. Bureau of Land Managem e nt (BLM), Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area <br />(AHRA), jointly adm i nistered by Colorado State Parks and the BLM, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), <br />the Division of W ildlife (DOW ) and the Upper Arkansas W a tershed Council. <br />By coordinating ef f o rts with public and private entities, GARNA is able to leverage lim ited f i nancial <br />and personnel resources to accom p lish projects that have been given a high priority by various agencies. <br />2 <br />
