EXPERIENCE

Western Scientific Services, Inc., has been continuously involved in
meteorological field observation programs related to weather modifi-
cation research since the day it was founded nearly eight years ago.
The capability and expertise of WSSI to support a year around weather
modification research project in the mountains near Climax, Colorado,
is evidenced by work of a similar nature performed on three major field
research projects:

1. Since the fall of 1968 I under contract with the Bureau
of Reclamation, WSSI has operated an extensive
hYdrometeorological network for collection of meteo-
rological data required for evaluation of cloud seeding
operation of the Colorado River Basin Pilot Project.

2. For six years, under contract with Colorado State
University, WSSI has provided support for research
dealing with precipitation augmentation from both
cold orographic clouds and continental non-orographic
clouds.

3. During the summer of 1972, under contract with the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,
WSSI installed and operated a 112 -station network
for describing precipitation and hailfall in support
of the National Hail Research Experiment.

Exposure to adverse weather conditions, difficult logistics problems,
and complicated scheduling are among the elements present in such
programs. These and other problems are resolved with satisfaction by
following work plans and procedures developed by experienced project
management.

First hand knowledge of the cClpabilities and performance of various meteo-
rological instruments and the environment in which they must operate has
been derived from conducting field research programs. During the course
of performing these projects I 'WSSI has developed equipment and instru-
ment design and construction capabilities to provide instrumentation
required for the work that are not available from commercial sources.
These capabilities for instrument and equipment selection and procurement;
design, construction, and testing; Clnd maintenance and repair are available
to support this project.

.-3-
