Section 6. - Photographs

Three types of photographic data were routinely collected during the 1985-86
CRADP winter activities. These were (1) surface time-lapse 16 mm photography
of the Grand Mesa from the roof of the Montrose office, (2) 35 mm B&W photos
of snow particles from the snowlab at Island Lake, and (3) 35 mm color photos
from the aircraft. Some 35 mm color photos were taken from Montrose on March
18 (11 photos) and 19 (4 photos). Some 35 mm B&W photos were taken near Delta
on March 18. The aircraft photos are totaled in the aircraft section of this
inventory.

The Montrose 16 mm camera was again at 38 291201lN, 107 5111911W, 1792 m (5880
ft) msl. The camera was operated daily from about 1340 to 0040 GMT (0640 to
1740 MST) at one frame every 2 minutes. From November 27 to February 3 the
hours were about 0715 to 1715 MST because of shorter daylight hours. During
special experiments the camera was occasionally panned to record snow from
clouds far downwind of seeding locations at about one frame per second.

The periods of missing data within the October 23, 1985 to April 2, 1986
operational period were:

0917-1505 851127; 0830-1551 851223; 0917-1626 860115; 1246 860126-0803 860127;
0653-1654 860202; 1419-1552 860218; 1611 860301-1203 860302; all MST.

The snowlab photo totals were:

860213-20. 860310-20. 860311-1. 860314-8. 860318-87. 860319-38.

6-1
