Section 4. - Satellite

The satellite data available for the 1985-86 CRADP winter activities cover the
entire Colorado River area. The majority of the laserfax imagery received was
from sector SB3. Two types of imagery are available: (1) visible
photographic and (2) IR (infrared) photographic. The visible imagery has a
1.9 km (1 nmi) resolution in the SB3 sector and the IR imagery has a 9 km
(4.85 nmi) resolution. The photographs are black and white prints with gray
scale shading and include outlines of state borders.

Laserfax imagery was collected from November 19, 1985 to April 1, 1986.
Visible and IR data were collected at alternating half hour intervals from the
satellite during the daytime and only IR was collected at night. Usually two
pictures per hour were received. Occasional pictures with an overlay of upper
air and surface analyses were received.

No detailed list of photographs is provided. Nearly all possible photographs
were obtained during work hours. Sometimes paper jams caused missing pictures
overnight or on weekends. Only December 25 and February 9 are completely
missing. The photos are on file at Montrose, Colorado.

4-1
