control. a profile chart of each trackline will be drawn showing waypoints and minimum
altitudes in a manner that can be quickly interpreted by the flight crew.

4) Icing Conditions:

All flights into icing conditions will be conducted at 150 KIAS or higher to prevent ice buildup
(per Beech Owner's Manual). If icing is encountered that exceeds the de-icing capability of the
aircraft, the mission will be aborted.

5) Winds and turbulence:

Flights will not be conducted in moderate or severe turbulence. Flights conducted when the
winds aloft are forecast over the Wasatch Plateau to be 40 knots or higher will always start well
above the TSA.

Flights over the project area will be conducted mainly during daylight hours.

6) Night Flights:

VFR night flights are authorized. IFR night flights in IMC will be conducted at or above the
MOCA (Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude) as designated by the FAA for that area.
The aircraft commander will have fmal authority to terminate the flight due to turbulence, icing
or reduced visibility below the clouds due to darkness, snow, fog, etc.

7) Logistics:

Base of Operations:

Advantage Aviation
Provo Municipal Airport
Provo, Utah 84601

Ph: (801) 373-0540

NOAA Office
(phone number unknown as of 1/3/94)

Crew Accommodations: Best Western Rome Inn
1200 South University Ave.
Provo, Utah 84601

Ph: (801) 375-7500

NOAA Aircraft Personnel:

Jim Heimbach - Flight Scientist
Dennis Wellman)
Stan Wilkison ) Project & Aircraft Instrument Support
Dr. Young Kim )

Tom Gates )
Randy Tebeest) Pilots

3
