' Town of Bennett
Feasibility Study
to be re- drilled. The loan is being requested for the re- drilling of Well 5 because it is a more
important component of the Bennett water supply system.
The south water system (SWS) is made up of five ground water wells. Two wells (9 and 10) are
' completed into the Laramie -Fox Hills aquifer and three wells (11, 13, and 14) are completed into
the Arapahoe aquifer (Table 1). Wells 11 and 13 are the primary source of potable water for the
' Antelope Hills subdivision and Wells 9 and 10 are primarily used to irrigate the golf course. Well
14 is a directional well and currently not used as part of the water supply system.
PREVIOUS STUDIES
In September, 2007 Rothberg, Tamburini, and Winsor, Inc. (RTW) completed a
' WateriWastewater Master Utility Plan (WM/MUP) for the Town of Bennett (RTW, 2007). The
WMMUP evaluated the existing water and wastewater systems and identified potential
' improvements to those systems. A capital improvements plan (CIP) was developed to address
the potential improvements to the existing system and to meet future demands due to growth
' and changing regulations. The WMMUP estimated the number of wells that will be required to
meet future demands based on projected population growth and suggested improvements to
' the water treatment system and distribution system. The WMMUP is meant to act as a
comprehensive plan for the next 3 -5 years and a probable course of action thereafter -for up to
20 years.
' In December, 2006 Jehn Water Consultants, Inc. (JWC) submitted a Replacement Plain
application to the Ground Water Commission for the northern well field, which is analogous to
the NWS (JWC, 2006). The Replacement Plan would allow for Bennett to use the not non-
' tributary Denver aquifer. Determination of Water Right Receipt No. 518590 -A -D, is still pending
at the date of the completion of this Feasibility Study.
' WELL 5
Well 5 began pumping muddy water in September 2007. The pump and motor unit was
subsequently removed from the well. The removal of the equipment was complicated by a large
' 4
Jehn Water Consultants, Inc.
