<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Based upon the oesign rate of growth for Meeker, that is, <br />an estimated population of 7,850 people by 1990, tap fee revenues <br />and monthly water charges would generate adequate water utility <br />income. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS <br /> <br />In early 1975 the Town Council accepted the feasibility <br />study and decided to include the town citizenry in its <br />deliberations. After several public hearings the Town Council <br />c1ecided to proceeo with a water. sYBtem impcovement pcoqr..:l1Tl which <br />would include the following. The development of a new well field <br />in area B (map 3), a new transmission line from area B to the <br />Town of Meeker, a new pump station at area B, upgrading of the <br />present distribution with loopinq, fire ~ydrants and the <br />necessary pumping facilities, insulation and rehabilitation of <br />existing storage facilities, and additional facilities to serve <br />the zone 2 areas (map 2). <br /> <br />Consequently bids were taken for the work in Octoher, 1975. <br />The results of the bidding were that the immediate needs of the <br />system could be obtained for a cost of $1,901,150. <br /> <br />The Town Council was successful in financing the <br />improvements by the following: <br /> <br />FHA grant <br />FHA Loan @ 5% - 40 yrs. <br />CWCB appropriations <br /> <br />$300,000 <br /> <br />922,000 <br />500,000 <br /> <br />180,000 <br /> <br />$1,902,000 <br /> <br />The CWCB assistance on this project was used to complete the <br />facilities to provide water to the area marked zone II (map II). <br />The facilities included transmission lines, pump facilities, and <br />storage. The project construction commenced in 1976 and was <br />completed in 1977. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
