Potential habitat for these species would not be affected by
the conversion of dry farmland to irrigated land.

The Colorado pikeminnow and razorback sucker occur in the San Juan River which receives
return flows from much of the irrigated land in the area, and these species and the endangered
humpback chub and bonytai1 chub occur in the Colorado River which is fed by thle Dolores
River. Both the Colorado and San Juan rivers downstream from the project area are designated
as critical habitat for endangered fish. The depletions from the Class B shares are already
occurring to both rivers and there will be no additional impact to the flows.

The primary environmental consideration will be archeological sites along the routes of the
pipelines. An archeologist will survey the pipeline corridors. If a site is found, the pipf:line route
will be modified to avoid the site; however, the pipeline routes are almost exclusively along
developed corridors and the chance of impacting an archeological site is minimal.

An environmental assessment has been prepared by USBR for the carriage of non-pr~iect water
(1,500 MVIC Class B shares) through the Dove Creek Canal.

XI.? IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
The DISTRICT will either utilize in-house construction crews or bid the work, deplending on
cost and availability of in-house personnel. The DISTRICT has construction crews that routinely
install and construct pipelines and pump stations. Using the DISTRICT crews to iinstall the
facilities will significantly reduce the cost of installation but will require scheduling of
construction in coordination with other duties.

The tasks for Contract #1 are listed in Table XI-A.

TABLE XI-A
MAJOR TASKS

Purchase MVIC Class B Shares
Serve 246 acres A10n the Dove Creek Canal
Ratif USBR Carria e A reement
Serve 440 acres in Sandstone West
Close CWCB Contract #1 and Pa IDC

Com leted
Com 1eted
Com leted
Summer, 2005
November, 2005

The loan requested in Contract #2 is for $3,323,180 and will be presented to the Colorado Water
Conservation Board in January of 2005.
