The Frederick demographic profile and
growth projections have been copied from the Frederick Comprehensive Plan (1996) and are included as
Exhibit B. The Milavec Lake raw water system could replace a significant portion of the Town's current and
projected irrigation volume usage in the summer months, thereby making more Central Weld water available
for potable water consumption by residents. The water stored in Milavec Lake could potentially also be used
as a secondary or "peaking" potable water source in the future.

4.0 WATER DEMANDS

Milavec Lake storage will be used to irrigate at leastlOo::1 of predominantly grass-covered areas. Future
water uses or losses from the reservoir will include w~mped for raw irrigation, evaporation, and seepage.
Seepage losses will be negligible or at least greatly reduced after the proposed project is completed.

The average annual evaporation loss at Milavec Lake is estimated to be 40 inches' and the average annual
precipitation is estimated to be 16 inches2 and therefore the net evaporation is estimated to be 24 inches (40
inches evaporation minus 16 inches precipitation). Total volume lost to evaporation will be approximately
130 acre-feet based on a maximum reservoir surface area of 65 acres.
vJ?, I rJ
The average annual water requirement for lawn grass is approximately three a~cre-feet per acre per year, and
therefore the average annual water requirement to irrigate 100 acres is(3~cre e . Areas including the
WCR 13 trail and portions of Miner's Park and the Golf Course will not-requi e the full three acre-feet per
year.

Following is a summary of the areas preliminarily designated to receive raw water irrigation.

Pond at Miner's Park:
Miner's Park
Baseball Park
Crist Park
WCR 13 Trail'
School District: Elementary
High School
AtWetic Field

Direct Irrir!Gtion from Milavec:
Finley Open-Space

16 acres
3 acres
3 acres
18 acres
4 acres
12 acres
10 acres

80 acres

q"v\!., 6 \v" l(
o ~/v\ S r ' ~
~ c I, . , I ~ '..I ll-c

1. The WCR 13 trail area was estimated as being 150' wide by 1 mile long based on the current plan to
combine WCR 13 and Main Street with a center median.
