The Dolores Project was built by the Bureau of Reclamation and is operated by <br />the Dolores District. The Project provides irrigation and M&I water in Dolores and Montezuma <br />counties in southwestern Colorado. The main feature of the Dolores Project is McPhee <br />Reservoir, with a c:apacity of 381,000 acre-feet. The annual yield of the Project provides an <br />irrigation water supply for the Ute-Mountain Ute Tribe (7,600 acres), the Montezuma Valley <br />Irrigation Company (26,200 acres), and the full-service Project lands (28,200 acres). The <br />irrigation supply totals approximately 92,500 acre-feet per year. The Project also provides <br />municipal and industrial water for the City of Cortez, the Town of Dove Creek, Towaoc, and <br />the rural domestic water users throughout the District service area.
