<br />" , <br /> <br />DOLORES WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT <br />BYLAWS <br /> <br />Amended February 14, 1991 <br />ARTICLE I - The District <br /> <br />Section 1.. Legislature <br />The District is organized pursuant to C.R.S., S37-45-101 et seq. <br /> <br />Section 2. Name of District <br />The name of the District shall be the Dolores Water Conservancy District. Hereafter referred to as the <br />(District), <br /> <br />Section 3. Purpose of District <br />The General purpose of the District is set forth in C.R.S., S37-45-102-and more particularly as follows: <br />. 1. It is hereby declared that it is the purpose of the District to provide for the conservation <br />of water resources within the District in order to insure the greatest beneficial use of water <br />within the District. <br />2. It is the purpose of the District to encourage and assist in the construction of water <br />projeCts which: <br />A. Are for the public benefit and advantage to residents of the District. <br />B. Will indirectly benefit all industry within the District. <br />C, Increase taxable property valuation within the District. <br />D. Benefit municipalities by providing adequate supplies of water for domestic and <br />industrial use. <br />E. Provide irrigation water to agricultural lands.. ..... <br />F. Stabilize the flow of water on streams and increase flow andretum flow to such <br />streams in order to assure a constant water supply to presently irrigated lands, <br />G. . Promote the comfort, safety, health and welfare of the people of the District. <br /> <br />Section 4. Policy of the District <br />It is declared to be the policy of the District: <br />1. To control, make use of and apply to beneficial use all unappropriated waters available <br />to a direct and supplemental use of such waters for domestic, manufacturing, irrigation, power <br />and other beneficial uses. <br />2. To cooperate with the State of Colorado in obtaining from water available to the District <br />the highest duty for domestic uses and irrigation of lands in the District within terms of interstate <br />compacts. <br />3. To cooperate with the United States Government for the construction and financing of <br />works in the District and for the operation and maintenance thereof. <br />4. To promote the greater prosperity and general welfare of the people of the District. <br /> <br />Section 5. Board of Directors <br />The governing body of the District shall be the Board of Directors. Hereafter referred to as the (Board). <br />The Board has the powers enumerated in C.RS., S37-45-118, S37-45-134 and as otherwise stated <br />therein, and all such powers necessary to achieve the purpose of the District. The number of Directors <br />shall be fixed by the Court. If any Director shall miss three (3) consecutive meetings, either special or <br />regular, of the Board of Directors without a prior excuse approved by the President of the Board, or his <br />assigns, the Board may request the Court to declare a vacancy and proceed to fill the position pursuant <br />to C.R.S., 37-45-114, or as amended. <br /> <br />Page loweD Bylaws <br />
