5. Please provide a brief narrative description of the

proposed project inqluding purpose, need, facilities, types

of water uses to be served and service area:
The purpose of this project is to upgrade & expand the system. The
Norwood, Wrights Mesa water system provides domestic potable water
for the Town of Norwood and adjacent rural res~dents. The service
area includes the town of Norwood and the communities of Redvale
and Coventry, located about 10 miles to the west along High~ay 145.
The boundaries are loosely defined by Beaver Creek on the East, Oak
Hl~l un the 6~u~h, Nat~:ita Creek on the south and west, and San
Miguel River on the north and east. The existing water syst~m
consists of a water intake on the Gurly Ditch, and earthen raw water
storage reservoir, a water treament plant, two steel storage' tanks,
and piping and the distribution sytem,
Water use is as follows: l)Domestic use (residential, commercial,public
and institutional buildings},2)Irrigation use and stock watering.
3)Industrial uses for manufacturing. 4)System losses, including
operational usage, leakage, and wasteage.

The purpose and need directly correspond to the problems outlined
in question A-5 of this application.
