.

.

.

The above water usage and demand vary widely and are given for comparisop only. Current
water usage shown in Table 1.1 for EI Paso County is used as the basis for future water demand
I
projections in this report.
I

In addition to annual water demands, the EPCW A also asked Conoly water pr~Viders to report
peak day and peak week water demands (GMS, Inc., 1999). Of the 16 EI Pasp County water
providers responding with data, the average peak day water demand was 2.57 ti~es the average
daily water demand, and the peak week water demand was 2.31 times the average weekly water
I
demand. These values are within generally accepted ratios for the western United States.
i
I
The EPCW A also asked us to contact several public and private water providers, rho were either
not included in the GMS, Inc. (1999), report or were not originally contacted. These additional
I
water providers included the following: Forest View Acres Water District, G:heyenne Creek
Metropolitan Park and Water District, Forest Lakes Metropolitan District, Fo~est View Acres
Water District, Garden Valley Water and Sanitation District, Park Forest Water qistrict, Town of
Ramah, Walden Community System, Westmoor Water and Sanitation DistrictJ and Woodmen
I

Hills Metropolitan District. Of these additional water providers, data and irtformation were
available from Forest Lakes Metropolitan District, Park Forest Water District, Jnd the Town of
Ramah (Table I-I). I

,
,
1.3 Future Water Demands i

Future water demands through the year 2020 were estimated for th~~ existing w~ter providers in
I
EI Paso County, based on estimated build-out dates, estimated annual water demand at build-out,
I
and linear projections for those water providers whose build-out date was dif;ferent than year

2020. Table 1.1 shows the estimated build-out date and estimated water demana at build-out as
I
supplied by the EI Paso County water providers (GMS, Inc., 1999). The build-o~t dates were not
,
provided for some of the water providers. In these cases, we have assumed a build-out date. For
I
both A WSD and Rock Creek Mesa Water District, we assumed a build-out date of 1998. For the

I
Town of Calhan,we assumed that it is currently built-out but could expand to include additional
. I

service area as shown on Figure 1-1. We assumed that the CSU's build-out dat~ was 2040, even
though it may be later, as indicated in Table 1.1. For those water providers wHo did not give a
build-out date, we assumed that they would have build-out in the year 2020. ;These providers
included Colorado Center Metropolitan District, Manitou Springs 'Water Depaitment, Town of
I
Palmer Lake, Park Forest Water District, Pioneer Lookout Water District, Towh of Ramah, and
I

Sage Water Users Association. :

4

WaterReport.doc

September 5, 2002
