City of Florence

The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this
study were performed by Camp Dresser &
McKee Inc. for FEMA, under Contract No.
EMC-C-0046. This study was completed in
March 1981.

Unincorporated Areas of
Fremont County

The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses used for
this study were performed by the U. S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE), Albuquerque
District in 1978, Great Divide Engineering &
Surveying in October 1981, and Camp Dresser &
McKee, Inc., in June 1982 when preparing Flood
Plain Information Reports for the area.

The Towns of Brookside, Coal Creek, Rockvale, and Williamsburg did not
previously have FISs published. The Towns of Brookside and Williamsburg are
non-flood prone communities and are not currently participating in the NFIP.

For this revision, Coal Creek, Coal Creek East Overflow, and Coal Creek West
Overflow were studied by the USACE, Albuquerque District for FEMA, under
Agreement/Contract No. EMD-2001-GR-0171. This work was completed in
June 2003.

1.3 Coordination

For both the Cites of Canon City and Florence, the initial Consultation
Coordination Officer (CCO) meeting was held on June 26, 1979. The meetings
were attended by City and County officials, representatives of FEMA, the
Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), acting as the State Coordination
Agency, and the study contractor to explain the nature and purpose of the FIS,
and to identify the streams to be studied by detailed methods. A final CCO
meeting is held to review the results of the study.

On December 13, 1988, the results of the original FIS for the Cities of Canon
City and Florence and the unincorporated areas of Fremont County were
reviewed and accepted at a final CCO meeting attended by representatives of the
community and FEMA.

For this revision, an initial CCO meeting was held in the City of Florence to
identify the reach of Coal Creek to be re-studied. The meeting was attended by
City officials, representatives of FEMA, the CWCB, and the USACE.

On November 29, 2005 the results of this countywide FIS were reviewed at a
Final CCO meeting.

2
