<br /> <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency <br />Washington, D.C. 20472 <br /> <br />CERTIFIED MAIL <br />RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED <br /> <br />IN REPLY REFER TO: <br />Case No,: 02-08-082P <br /> <br />The Honorable Julia Pimack <br />Mayor, City of Longmont <br />350 Kimbark Street <br />Longmont, CO 80501 <br /> <br />Community: City of Long mont, CO <br />Community No,: 080027 <br />Panel Affected: 080l3C0270 F <br />Effective Date of MAR 25 2002- <br />This Revision: <br /> <br />l02-I-A-C <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Pimack: <br /> <br />This responds to a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective <br />Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for Boulder County, <br />Colorado and Incorporated Areas (the effective FIRM and FIS report for your community), in <br />accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations, In a letter dated <br />November 28,2001, Mr. David Hollingsworth, P.E., Storm Drainage Engineer, Public Works Division, <br />Department of Community Development, City of Longmont, requested that FEMA revise the FIRM and <br />FIS report to show the effects of a revised hydraulic analysis that incorporated updated topographic <br />information, a new regulatory flood way , and a proj ect affecting both Dry Creek No, 1 and Clover Basin <br />Tributary, The proj ect consisted of realignment and channelization along Dry Creek No, 1 from <br />approximately 1,450 feet downstream tojust downstream of a private road (renamed Grandview <br />Meadows Drive); construction of a new bicycle path bridge across Dry Creek No, 1 approximately <br />800 feet downstream of Grandview Meadows Drive; replacement of an existing culvert under the <br />Grandview Meadows Drive crossing of Dry Creek No, I with an II-foot by lO-foot concrete box culvert <br />and a 9-foot by 8-foot concrete box culvert; construction of a flood-detention basin along Dry <br />Creek No, 1 approximately 600 feet upstream of Grandview Meadows Drive; and channelization along <br />Clover Basin Tributary fromjust upstream to approximately 400 feet upstream of its confluence with <br />Dry Creek No, L <br /> <br />The area affected by this revision along Dry Creek No, 1 and Clover Basin Tributary is shown on <br />effective FIRM Panel 080l3C0270 F dated June 2,1995, as modified by a Letter of Map Revision <br />(LOMR) that was issued on June 19, 1995 (CaseNo, 95-08-140P). This area is shown on the FIRM asa <br />Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the flood having a I-percent <br />chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood), designated Zone AE, where Base <br />Flood Elevations (BFEs) have been determined, According to the submitted data, portions of this area <br />were annexed by the City ofLongmont The annexed areas included the southern half of Section 7 <br />(Township 2 North, Range 69 West); the northwestern quarter of Section 18 (Township 2 North, <br />Range 69 West); and the northeastern quarter of Section 13 (Township 2 North, Range 70 West), <br /> <br />All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from <br />Mr, Hollingsworth, <br /> <br />We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM <br />and in the effective FIS report, We have revised the FIRM and FIS report to modify the elevations and <br />
