This BA Was fo~arded to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) on <br />August 9, ]996 (copy o~ memorandum enclosed), with a request for formal <br />consultation under pro~isions of Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. We <br />have been informed of tbe Service's receipt of the BA on AU9ust ]2, ]996, and <br />their determination that the due date for their draft biological opinion is <br />December 24, 1996. <br /> <br />SUbject: <br /> <br />Upon receipt of the Service's draft biological Oplnlon, Reclamation will <br />distribute copies for ai4S-day public review and comment period. As specified in <br />Step 6 of the March 29, '1996, Consultation A9reement (Appendix B in the final BA) <br />between Reclamation and ~he Service, Reclamation will consider the comments and <br />provide the Service inf~rmation regardin9 errors of fact and whether reasonable <br />and prudent alternativesi and/or measures can or cannot be implemented. The <br />Service will consider Re~lamation's comments and requests in providing a final <br />biol09ical opinion by April IS, 1997 (Step a of the Consultation Agreement). <br /> <br />As part of OUr commitmen~ to an open, public consultation process on lower <br />Colorado River operation$ and maintenance, we are available to discuss the <br />contents of the fi na I BA iwith any interested stakeholder.
