<br />Water Efficiency Grant Program Mid.-Term Project WET Grant.Report (CWN) <br /> <br />"\vorlcing with 30 teachers, we've reached over 9,000 people in the comm'unity on a pcrsol1allevel <br />and that number will c()ntinuc to grow each year. <br /> <br />Table 1. The Impact of Training Teachers: <br /> <br />T ra ining (8 hr training) x (30 teachers) = 240 contact hrs <br />Teacher (30 teachers) x (1 00 students) x (2 hrs) = 6000 contact hrs <br />Student (3000 students) x (2 parents) x (1 hr) = 6000 contact hrs <br />Total = 12,240 personal contact hrs <br /> <br />I)uring fiscal year 2006-2007, nearly 400 teachers .received trainirlg through l)roject WET and <br />other CWN sponsored high quality water education programs thrOllgh the network now <br />supported by C'WN. We've gotten (}ff to a good start for the current fiscal year and have already <br />trained over 250 teachers from July 2007- Oct 2008: We anticipate reaching approxinlately 220 <br />educators betwee.n October and Jllne 2008. tvlatlY ne\v Project WF:1"f \vorkshops have been <br />planned for the upcoming calendar year, inclllding 11 I)rojcct W.E~r,r workshops 'before the e11d <br />of the fiscal year. <br /> <br />Table 2. Th,ese !l.e"\v partnerships allow '\vater providers and <br />other professional cl1tities to subsidize the cost of Project WET materials and training, \vhich is <br />uSllally incurred by the educator, while reaching a target alldience "\vith a specific message. The <br />Utility or other sponsor covers the cost of materials and hosts a IJroject \VF"T -"rorkshop that is <br />tailored to highlight locally relevant water topics. <br />i"lnese worksholls incltlde sev~ral days of hands-on contact \vith the l)roject WET C;-uide and <br />c()ver topics identified by the sponsor; from water conservation an,dXeriscape programs to ne\v <br />water development pr()jects and touts of treatment plants. Field trips may include trips to the <br />drinking water and \vaste water treatmCl1t plants, touxs of Xenscape demonstration gardens, <br />\vater qtlality m()nitoring at reservoirs, local natu.ral areas, "\vetlallds or nature centers and other <br />educational locations. r'fhe guest speakers and field trips enhance the \vorkshop atId provide <br />teachers "\vith local resources to engage students in learning.
