While the <br />Minor episodes occurred most frequently during the storms, <br />they usually occurred in combination with either the Moderate <br />and/or the Major episodes. Only 20 percent of the storm periods <br />during the field season contained precipitation periods that <br />were made up of only Minor episodes. Thus, if a given storm <br />were being seeded, most of these Minor episodes would likely <br />be seeded along with the larger precipitation periods. With <br />effective seeding, some of these Minor episodes could conceivably <br />become Moderate episodes. <br /> <br />3.2.10 <br /> <br />Episode Distribution During storms <br /> <br />Table 3-8 lists the number of episodes during the 11 <br />storm periods at each of the seven gauge sites. The number <br />per storm ranged from a maximum of seven (at 3 gauge sites <br />during 3 different storms) to a minimum of zero (at 2 gauge <br />sites during different storms). The average number of episodes <br />per storm over the network was nearly three (2.9) and the <br />median was three, while the mode (the most frequent number) <br />was two. This number of episodes per storm occurred 19 times <br />during the field season followed by three and one episodes <br />per storm (each occurred 15 times) suggesting the probability <br />of encountering more than one episode per storm is quite good. <br />In other words, it is infrequent that precipitation falls <br />without interruption throughout an entire storm period. <br /> <br />Throughout the field season, the average number of episodes <br />per gauge site was very evenly distributed, with a range of <br />only 2.7 to 3.2, but the average distribution during the individual <br />storms varied from near one (1.4) during storm number 2 (January <br /> <br />3-50 <br />
