SUBJECT: COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT COLORADO RIVER BASIN FACT SHEET

I am forwarding some basic comments on the draft handed out at the Grand Junction
meeting. The draft is obviously in still a very limited format, and these comments are only
intend~ to attempt to correct some of the more obvious errors, and not to supplement the paucity
of material in some sections. .

Section 1.1 Climate 1st line: "Changes" should be f.'Variations'~

Section 1.2 Topography: Elevations in the basin range from greater than 14,000 feet

Section 1.5 Water~ Structures: Wolford Mountain Reservoir is 66,000 acre feet, not
56;000 acre feet. Most of the use ofRuedi Reservoir is for MunicipaVIndustrial contracts, and
for endangered fish releases~ The NCWCD should be queried to detennine of the majority of the
use from C-BT is still irrigation~

Section 1.7 Energy and Mineral Resources.. Page 6 1 st full paragraph, last sentence. In
the driest year of record, 2002, the Shoshone call came on in late J une~

4th full Paragraph: Dillon Reservoir also has a hydroelectric plant

Section 1.8 Water Quality: Stream depletions related to transbasin diversions should be
added to the first sentence enumerating the principal water quality issues" It is a far greater
problem than protection of endangered fish species.
