ImprOving
water quality in rivers in the Pagosa Springs area is a particular concern.

Additional Proiects:
Additional projects receiving significant attention from the participants include:
· Promoting additional public stewardship of public lands through vOlunteerism, especially
for trails, trailheads and motorized routes~

r-

Marketing and Cultural Resources:
Forum participants are particularty interested in continuing to increase regional collaboration in
marketing efforts, particularly cross-marketing the Mesa Verde and San Juan Forest centennials
and the Chimney Rock Lunar Archaeology Celebration. Participants also see great potential in
developing. a unified network of information about the outstanding cufturaVarchaeological
resources of the region, including major outlets at Mesa Verde, the Southern Ute Museum,
Anasazi Heritage Center, Ft. Lewis College, 4 Comers Monument, Hovenweep and Canyon of
the Ancients National Monument.

At the first meeting of the Forum, most of the discussion was targeted towards recreation site
development, open lands protection and public access improvements. Much more attention will
be devoted to Marketing and Public Information at the second meeting of the Forum.

3
