An additional 2 - 6 seasonal staff are typically hired
for the summer months. The 2007 budget for the conservation department was $2.23 million
with approximately $1.2 million going to personnel and $1.03 million for programs. The
personnel costs include an additional 4 FTE for the public information division. Based on these
budget figures, Aurora Water operates the second largest water conservation program in
Colorado. Only Denver Water has a program with a larger budget.

Current Water Conservation Program Measures

REBATES

Toilet rebates-Since 2002, Aurora Water has offered toilet rebates for water customers to
switch out their older, less efficient, toilets for low-flow toilet models. In 2005, Aurora began
to offer a rebate for High-efficiency toilets which use 20 percent less water than ordinary low
flow toilets. Through 2006, Aurora has rebated 3,778 toilets for an approximate cumulative
savings of 418 acre feet. A rebate of up to $100 is offered for a standard 1.6 gallon per flush
(gpf) toilet and up to $150 for a high-efficiency toilet (HET) that uses 1.28 gpf or less.
Aurora provides a list of recommended products, but does not require that rebated products
meet a performance standard.

11
