Chatfield Reallocation FRlEIS Study Meeting
Tetra Tech Conference Room, Lakewood, Colorado
Thursday, August 9, 2007: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Welcome and Introductions (Tom Browning, CWCB)

Project Mitigation Update (Tetra Tech)
. Gary Drendel started off the meeting with a Power Point presentation
outlining habitat overlap at Chatfield Reservoir. The slides included the
following information:
o Bird habitat inundated at the 5,444' pool is approximately 453
acres. There are 90 acres that are considered non-bird habitat
(parking lots, roads, etc.).
o Preble's habitat inundated at the 5,444' pool is approximately 332
acres.
o Wetland habitat inundated at the 5,444' pool is approximately 114
acres.
o Gary added that the Preble's habitat will be the driver for
decisions-its range is limited and the habitat occurrence is the
rarest of the three. The USFWS will want to stay as close to the
impacted habitat as possible when looking for mitigation lands.
o These acreages represent the footprint of inundation-the model
will show more detail on the fluctuation of the pool and what is
impacted when the 5,444' level is reached. The highest areas
around the pool will rarely be inundated. It was pointed out that
new habitat will also be developed along the fringe of the new pool
level.
o If added up, the three habitats total over 900 acres but it is
necessary to look at the overlap of the habitats, totaling 464 acres,
to understand the amount of land that will need to be mitigated.
o A table was distributed to meeting attendees that was developed in
the June 4th Mitigation Workgroup. Additional information for the
table came from numerous contacts in the Chatfield area. It was
reviewed with the USFWS on July 30th and further updated. The
table currently includes 28 candidate sites. It includes the following
information for each site:
· Property and Project Description
· Location Information
· Ownership Information
· Acres potentially mitigated for each habitat (birds, Preble's,
wetlands)
· Water Availability (to be determined)
· Cost (to be determined)
o The table presents current total acres of potential mitigation sites
versus acres inundated at 5,444':

1
