- 3 -

Endan2ered Species
. Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse "critical habitat versus potential habitat. Pete Plage stated that
critical habitat is 460 feet on either side of the river.
. Section 7 has specific procedures regarding impacts on potential habitat. Presence of the mouse
and the quality of the habitat are largely unknowns.
. Douglas County has a Preble's habitat conservation plan but it doesn't cover the Chatfield areas.
Only covers Parker and Castle Rock in Douglas County.
. Preble's is proposed for delisting and there will be a decision in early August. If Preble's is
delisted then wetlands and riparian habitat still impacted so wouldn't change impacts or costs very
much.
. Preble's is good indicator species for wetlands and riparian habitat. Mitigation would involve
creation of habitat in within the South Platte Drainage; it is preferred to mitigate within the same
drainage.

Next Meetin2 Dates
. The next general study meeting is scheduled for June 22, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Tetra Tech

Flood Protection . Water Project Planning and Finance. Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning
