Water Conservation and Efficiency Technical Roundtable Meeting #1 <br />Meeting Summary <br />- Answer: Yes. <br />^ Where did the levels of conservation in the presentation originate? <br />- Answer: From nationwide studies that have been completed - the levels are explained in <br />the SWSI report appendix. <br />^ Will toilet replacement continue until 2030? <br />- Answer: yes, it is anticipated that retrofits will occur until this time. <br />^ Is leak detection included in any of the levels of conservation? <br />- Answer: Yes, it's included within level 2 measures. <br />^ It was noted that the South Platte River dries up as a result of diversion and then becomes a <br />flowing river due to return flows at six points between Denver and the State line. <br />Af ter comments on the white paper were discussed the TRT had an opportunity to generate <br />questions f or the TRT to address. The group then prioritized on these questions (entire list of <br />questions and results of voting are attached to this meeting summary) by voting on those they <br />thought were and initial priority. These questions address the mission statement and provide <br />examination of the opportunities and consequences of taking various actions. The prioritized <br />questions the following questions are summarized below and will be addressed by this TRT <br />during the remaining TRT meetings: <br />Final Questions - M&I <br />1. If we use conserved water for the following purposes, how does it affect system reliability? <br />^ To improve reliability f or existing customers <br />^ For new growth <br />^ Other uses <br />- Enhance stream f lows <br />- Sale to other users <br />2. What are the projected long-term savings from conservation alternatives <br />^ What conservation measures have been most effective in terms of amount and cost per AF <br />saved? <br />^ What are the implementation costs and "avoided" costs when implementing water <br />conservation and ef ficiency measures? <br />3. What are the issues with ability to pay f or M&I users, both at the provider and customer <br />level? <br />4. What are the public, political and institutional challenges to successfully implementing the <br />various levels of M&I conservation? <br />Final Questions - A riculture <br />1. What are the projected long-term savings from agricultural conservation and efficiency <br />alternatives? <br />2. What are the issues with ability to pay f or agricultural users? <br />3. What are the main institutional barriers associated with agricultural conservation besides <br />cost? <br />4.
