SWSI Phase 2 Technical Roundtable <br />Water Conservation and Efficiency <br />Institutional and Political <br />SWSI examined various levels of M&I conservation that could achieve up to <br />40 percent reductions in M&I demands f rom year 2000 levels of water use. <br />^ Would these various levels of conservation aff ect the urban quality of life? <br />^ What are the political and institutional challenges to successfully implementing the <br />various levels of conservation? <br />^ What is the public acceptability of the various levels? <br />^ What would the various levels do to the attractiveness of Colorado as a place to <br />live? <br />^ How can revenues be maintained in light of declining water use as additional <br />conservation levels are achieved? <br />^ Should conserved water be used to improve reliability f or existing customers, f or <br />new growth or other uses such as streamflows or sale to other users? <br />^ Some have suggested that basinwide water conservation by M&I providers on <br />renewable water sources can be used as a source of water for those on non- <br />renewable sources.
