Army Corps of Engineers <br /> <br />Summer Adamietz <br /> <br />Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation Project - Scoping Comments <br />Summary <br />April 26, 2005 <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />RE: <br /> <br />This memo is a summary of the Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation FR/EIS scoping <br />comments received from October 26, 2004 through March 30, 2005. The Co~s received <br />about 200 comments from the pubic sco~ing meetings on October 26th and 27 ,2004, the <br />agency seoping meeting on February 10 ,2005, 16 letters, and two emails. <br /> <br />Some comments related to broad concerns, while others submitted very specific positions or <br />recommendations for analysis. Below is a succinct summary of the main comments. <br /> <br />Alternatives - these are alternatives suggested from the scoping <br />comments; some may not be considered in the EIS (CH 3) <br /> <br />Examine off-site water storage alternatives <br /> <br />Examine conservation alternatives for water supply to the Denver Metro area <br /> <br />Build a wave action parapet wall around the existing structure <br /> <br />Increase outlet releases during severe flood events <br /> <br />Increase size of the spillway <br /> <br />Conduct a site-specific antecedent flood study <br /> <br />Aquatics <br /> <br />Concerns about impacts on aquatics above and below the reservoir because of water flow <br />levels (change in stream flow and/or change in reservoir releases) <br /> <br />Address impacts to reservoir fish populations (walleye, trout, and small mouth bass, gizzard <br />shad) <br /> <br />Flooded vegetation could provide good habitat for fish and other aquatic species <br /> <br />Impacts on Threatened and Endangered Species <br /> <br />. Greenback cuthroat trout <br /> <br />.
