some comfort that we are hearing them. Nov 13, the three east slope
roundtables will meet and there will be a presentation at that large meeting in
Castle Rock. Smaller working group seems like a better vehicle at this point.
Bert: Feeling that oil shale development will overwhelm the White River or
Yampa?
Eric: Yes. 350,000 acft for oil shale development.
Bill Jerke: Should we send Eric with a message about working on an MOU?
Kathay Remlels: Seems like they should be the ones to put together the MOU;
introduce the fact that we are respectful of their concerns. Give them control
over the beginning of the process.
Plulo Shelton: Guideline for discussion is a softer step forward than an MOU.
Harold Evans: Agree, too early to tallc about an MOU.
Eric Willcinson: Let's wait and listen to what they have to say; let's not appear
aggressive.
Bob Streeter: Would it be appropriate to send a note?
Shimmin: We should take no action tonight; they need to meet with their
roundtable first. We should not press in any direction, we would be
premature. Ask Eric to tell them of our discussions and we were encouraged
and we will wait to hear what they have to say.
Janet Bell: What about the November meeting? Too much?
Slummin: We should be thoughtful about what Janet says about the three
roundtable meeting; Eric Hecox, please let us lalow about the Yampa so that
we can be thoughtful about the Yampa.
Eric: We outlined how this can benefit five roundtable basins.
Harold Evans: The South Platte Roundtable meeting with Yampa is different
than Metro Roundtable; ag follcs to ag follcs... different from Metro group.
Jim Yahn: Environmental concerns:
Tom Iseman: Four fish that are trying to recover; providing coverage under
endangered species act; concern would be a big diversion project would
endanger that recovery; Eric W. has acknowledged this; Yampa people have
also voiced concerns about this recovery; from perspective of ESP;
Eric: Realistically, if the project were to go forward, these hurdles would have
to be cleared.
Bill: Tlus cannot go forward without enviromnental buy-in.
9
