Eric Kuhn from Glenwood Springs, Governor Appointee <br />Bill Tramper Gunnison Basin <br />Melinda Kassen: Live in South Platte, but Governor's appointee to IBCC for <br />environmental and recreational interests <br />Bill Jerlce: Thai~lcs to all <br />Hecox: This is our effort for cross basin education and understanding; South <br />Platte did an outstanding job of presenting our issues <br />Jerlce: CWCBC report will come later in meeting when Eric Willcinson present. <br />Diane Hoppe: Colorado Foundation for Water Education on Denver Basin <br />Groundwater; remember director's notebook that has been distributed; thanks for <br />support of foundation over the year; Foundation contributes greatly to the state's <br />process for citizens' education. <br />New website up today at www.ibcc.state.co.us <br />Hecox: Thai~lcs to the foundation for producing the report; IBCC education and <br />outreach committee has supported this for outreach. <br />Jerlce: Phreatophyte committee: coordinator: Bob Streeter: <br />Bob Streeter. Meeting today: native and non-native species: start with focus on <br />tamarisk and Russian olive, cottonwood; look at where these are problems; <br />surveys will be engaged; several funding sources have been identified; Weld <br />Weed Specialist: role of county weed programs in this; framed issue ready to <br />proceed. <br />Jerlce: Idea is to not just study but to come forth with proposal for managing the <br />issue and to increase yield of CU as well as environmental benefits. <br />Tom Iseman: Native vs. non-native: Nature Conservancy has done lots of work on <br />non-native; we would be interested in where you would be looking to control <br />native species. <br />Streeter: More of the focus is on managing the native species; for instance, cotton <br />woods in n~ral stands; erosion; perhaps some places you need more; <br />Iseman: NC would like to have ecological context and how this will be done. <br />Jerlce: Best way to characterize this is a focus on tamarisk. <br />Jerlce: Clearly, this would include best management concerns. <br />4 <br />
