If you want to receive email updates, let Eric know. <br />Veva McCaig, CWCB <br />Veva did a presentation on the Water Conservation Planting & Grant Program and <br />distributed her PowerPoint presentation and brochures to the group. <br />Main points of the presentation: <br />• Water Conservation & Drought Planning was created in 1991 and housed in <br />CWCB. <br />Statutory mission to provide technical & financial assistance for drought <br />mitigation planning in the state <br />Water Efficiency Grant Program <br />^ Received $3 million to be used between 2004 through 2012 for <br />conservation and drought planning <br />^ Municipalities, counties, water user groups, conservancy districts and <br />some NGOs are eligible for grant money <br />She discussed the details of the grant application and guidelines which help applicants <br />provide successful applications. <br />San Miguel Basin Needs Assessment <br />Kay Hartman, Norwood, gave a presentation on the needs of the San Miguel Basin. <br />He reported that they're okay with the water around Telluride and that Uranium is <br />coming back around Uravan and Naturita. <br />Their current needs include: <br />• raising the water level in Gurley 2feet-rework spillway (2m$) <br />• update the study for raising Lone Cone dam <br />• water management & conservation study <br />• Norwood water system needs repairs to their infrastn~cture <br />• additional studies & engineering for projects selected from WMCS <br />They're still in a drought, even though it seems they've had a good precipitation year. <br />The Nucla power plant needs several thousand acre-feet of water, and the San Miguel <br />Project is trying to get storage that was promised in the 1968 Project Act, but was never <br />implemented. He added that Norwood and Sawpit may be applying for S 179 money and <br />that other roundtables have applied for 5179 funds to study water needs for energy <br />development. <br />Applications for Financial Assistance: <br />Goodman Point <br />J. R. Berry, President of Goodman Point Water Association made a presentation <br />requesting $260,000 (12.8% of entire project cost) in financial assistance to bring <br />domestic water to Goodman Point residents and provide increased structural fire <br />protection. <br />DECISION: Jerry McCaw moved that $100,000 be provided from Southwest Basin <br />Roundtable, with the condition that the state supplies the other $160,000. Marls Ragsdale <br />seconded the motion. Jem1y expressed a concern that this amount of money was too large <br />
