Back~round Characterization of Water System and Potential Growth: <br /> <br />(a) Current and past years per capita water use: <br /> <br />The District serves the To\VD of Vail, which is a resort community, and the Wolcott area. <br />located approximately 20 miles west of VaiL The Wolcott area is currently <br />predominantly agricldturalland that is planned for rapid commercial and residential <br />development ~rhe majority of housing units in Vail are mlllti-tmit condos/to\vnhomes <br />and hotel rooms, many of which are second homes that are not occupied ffillCh of the <br />time. The full-time population of Vail is approximately 4,600 residents bIlt the District's <br />service area pO,pulation during high occupancy periods is well over 40,000 people. Water <br />usage therefore varies seasonally depending upon d\vellingunit occupancy rates and <br />outdoor water uses. The majority of occupied units are multi-unit housing and hotels. <br />
